GSTPAM Request Union Finance minister To Extend last Date For GST Filing & Audit

On 13th August, the Goods & Services Tax Practitioners Association of Maharashtra (GSTPAM) officially requested Smt. Nirmala Sitharaman, Union Minister of Finance (GOI) to extend the due date for filing GSTR-9 & GSTR-9C for FY2017-18 & other due dates falling in August and September 2019.

Established in 1951, the GSTPAM has over 3,200 members including tax practitioners, Chartered Accountants, Cost Accountants, Company Secretaries and advocates specialising in GST, VAT, service tax and allied laws.

Heavy rains and flooding have caused destruction in many parts of Western Maharashtra, particularly Kolhapur, Satara, Sangli and Konkan. The GSTPAM is making efforts towards the rehabilitation of flood-affected victims through monetary and other aid at both organisational and personal levels. However, members are finding it difficult to meet the government’s deadlines for returns and audit under GST law and the Income Tax Act. These challenges have prompted the GSTPAM to send this letter to the Finance Minister for extending the due date of annual return and audit under the GST law by at least three months. They also request that the matter be taken up on a priority basis.

The Finance Minister has not yet confirmed if the request for deadline extension will be granted.
